Island Health & Wellness Foundation in the Community
Island Health & Wellness Foundation wants to connect with our community. In order to do this most effectively, we participated in two of the biggest events held on the Island this year: the July 4th parade in Deer Isle and Fishermen’s Day in Stonington.
At both events, IH&WF volunteers wearing custom t-shirts handed out bottles of water to the thirsty crowds as well as information about our organization and what we are doing to make this Island a healthier place to live and work. As a bonus, at Fishermen’s Day, we held a donation raffle to benefit four local health related causes: new waiting room furniture at Island Family Medicine, free and reduced care at the Island Dental Offices, Healthy Island Project’s “Move It To Lose It” program, and Island Community Center’s “Camp Kooky”. Participants were able to choose where their donations went and enter to win some amazing prices donated by local artists and businesspeople.
